Frank Buckles, the last surviving American veteran of World War I died of natural causes Sunday at the age of 110 in Charles Town, West Virginia., House, said a spokesman for the family said in a statement .
Eager to serve his country and escape the boredom of rural life in Missouri, said Buckles "Daily News" in 2008 that he lied to win his age.
