MIAMI (WSVN) - Two police officers from Miami-Dade lost their lives and to serve a warrant on a suspect wanted for murder, would also died following the shooting, police said.
A woman officer died in the operating room of Jackson Memorial Hospital, about 1 hour on Thursday, according to the mayor of Miami-Dade Carlos Alvarez. He said she had multiple injuries following a shootout between a violent fugitive, who also killed another officer in the long term scene. The suspect would die on stage.
"I'm sad to announce that the second officer who was shot on the scene ended in Jackson Memorial Trauma Center," said Mayor Carlos Alvarez Miami-Dade. "He has a trauma center in extremely critical condition. Trauma Center, where the benefits are that they did everything to save her, but apparently they have lost their lives."
Alvarez, who has been director of the Miami-Dade police said he took this very personal way of shooting. "It is shocking, it's hot, I can not really put into words," he said. "I'm not here when the mayor said, because if someone and the kind of work they do, it's personal."
He would not name, but said the officers were highly experienced veteran of the force. "You must do this for a number of years," he said.
At a press conference at JMH in Miami-Dade police Lt. Rosanna Cordero-Stutz, the mayor confirmed the statements. "Currently we have two police officer in Miami-Dade shot and killed in the line of duty, Cordero said Stutz.
Cordero-Stutz has also added a third officer was also admitted to hospital with a knee injury, but do not renounce their status except to say that the injury to the officer "minor".
Alvarez appeared on the scene, near the shooting outside a house in the North West of 69th Street and Seventh Avenue. He said the officers were part of a research team to serve an arrest warrant for the subject wanted for a murder in Miami.
Miami-Dade police commander Nancy Perez was the first officer to break the news when she fought back tears, as one of their colleagues died. "It was an excellent officer, an excellent man, like all other officers whom he works to protect the community," she said.
Rescuers transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital officials Ryder Trauma Center by ambulance. According to reports, officers were part of a group working with the U.S. Marshals Office of gunfire at about 11 o'clock
According to Barry Golden, U.S. marshals, the officers serving a warrant when the suspect an ambush and shootings, they went in late morning Thursday. Golden said the suspect was also killed. "I'll tell you, we are actively someone came to head this time," he said.

Dozens of officers responded to the scene, including the police chief of Miami Miguel Exposito. A man described the frantic scene following the shooting. "I tried to find something to eat and maybe 35 police cars came shooting at me," said Willie Locker.
Specific details of the shooting were not released, but witnesses said they heard a series of quick shots. "Several shots, maybe 7 or 8 shots," he told anthers has not been identified.
