The whispers in the family gatherings are always the same, because there was little similarity between Ann Pettway and her daughter.
"People said, what little like Ann has not seen," remembers Ashley Pettway, grew up believing abducted Carlina White was his cousin.
"But there has never been stronger, the things under the table said, spoken."
White, 1987 removed to Harlem Hospital in just three weeks after his birth, has finally solved this month with their blood relatives - including his mother and father.

"It's not fair," said Mary's great-granddaughter, 15 years Kyyese. "They (the family) so sad."
Kyyese said Ann Pettway and Nejdra certain qualities in common, even if they had their differences.
"Ann is a strong person," said the teenager. "Nejdra is calm. But the way they are all treated equally. "
No arrest in cold case that was made partly solved if Carlina White - doubts about their false "mother" - contacted authorities in December.
For the first weekend in January, they and their biological parents to reconnect.
It is unclear whether the city police or the FBI would face criminal prosecution in 23 years.
"We have suspicions in this case but you need more than probable cause," said NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne. "It's an old case, but that does not necessarily mean the door to lawsuits."
