News of General Motors' stock shooting up six percent to $35 a share on Thursday morning is causing GM and its related stock symbol to top the Google trends.

GM CEO Dan Akerson rang the opening bell at 9:30 a.m. in a unique fashion - he used the blaring horn of the2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS to start the trading day on the floor of the NYSE.

Stock was priced at $33 a share in GM's milestone IPO. The Washington Post reports that GM board members and executives gathered on the NYSE podium for the landmark moment.
