Indianapolis - big and intimidating on the outside, James Carpenter offered a big smile and gentle tone when addressing a small group of reporters at NFL Scouting Combine.The former Alabama offensive tackle next was asked all of his height (6-4), his current weight (321), versatility in the offensive line (he says he can play guard or s' attack at all on the spot).
Carpenter was asked why he was Junior College for two years before the visit to Alabama. He said he has signed with Iowa State High School and was placed at Coffeyville College (Kansas) Junior.
Carpenter said he has signed with Alabama after two years because he wanted to win. He said that the work of Crimson Tide offensive line coach Joe Pendry helped him prepare for the former to the NFL.
Alabama leads a pro-style offense, which is considered by many as an advantage to prepare for a career in the NFL.
