Beaverton School District leaders are a couple of weeks away to reveal a prioritized list of 41 possible cuts district-wide, which will inevitably lead to staff cuts deep and higher grades in 2011-12 school year.
Superintendent Jerry Colonna said the district's budget committee Tuesday night that the list is $ 46,800,000 in options, and 50 percent of respondents represented in the long term.
"We have no sacred cows," said Colonna. "The list contains a number of ways to deal with the deficit, as we move forward."
In recent months, the district's budget suggestions from employees and community members gathered to Colonna announced a projected $ 30 million face Beaverton $ 40 million budget deficit general fund for next year.
Mark McMullen reported last week, preventing senior economist for the State of Oregon's economy had turned the corner and began to recover, but not enough to lead to a reduction in government services and programs.
Based on revised estimates February 15 State Economic Forecast was published, the Beaverton School District is now preparing to cut $ 26 million to $ 33 million 2011-12 sound.
Colonna said Tuesday that the district identify forward with a plan of $ 32,800,000 of budget cuts.
Although this area is a significant improvement compared to previous forecasts to determine what still needs to make cuts a formidable challenge for district leaders as they have already been forced to cut $ 80,000,000 budget for the school past three years.
"The decisions we make are real people, we receive care - in some cases, our own children," said CEO Tom Quillin school. "We must be clear about what we drive, because these children are still with us."
He said Wednesday he feels the budget team of "painful" challenge for the future.
